“ROCK JOURNALISM IS PEOPLE WHO CAN’T WRITE, INTERVIEWING PEOPLE WHO CAN’T TALK FOR PEOPLE WHO CAN’T READ” (Frank Zappa).

According to the urban dictionary; “rock journalism is the act of meeting with punk musicians to interview them for a zine before a concert, rocks out and head bang during the concert, parties with the musicians after the show, then retiring to a quiet room to write a review and write down the interview transcript word-for-word; one who suffers the worst case of rock hangover than anyone else in the scene”.  Anyone who practices this is called a rock journalist.
Therefore, if rock journalism is people who can’t write, it means that they can express themselves by asking questions verbally without any written word, being that they cannot write, they can meet their client or rock musicians on a face-to-face basis while someone either writes or records the interview in order to get their questions answered.

On the other hand, interviewing people who can’t talk for people who can’t read is of no use, because; people who can’t talk cannot reply any of your interview questions.  Moreover, it can only work if; the people who can’t talk can read and write, while people who can’t read can talk, otherwise, this whole quote by Frank Zappa makes no sense to me at all.
